A better avatar

Hi. I'm a bit of a tech-primate, so I'm confused how most everyone here has really cool avatars. How do you get around the 6k max or the 180dpi max? Surely most of those avatsr I've seen are much larger than 6k. Please advise.

I get around it by having the image in Photobucket. Then I plunk the direct link into the field for the avatar. Same with my sig.

Help!!! I have tried multiple times to post an avatar and cant do it. All I want is the drawing of my costume in the avatar or a picture of me in the suit. Argggghh!!!

I ended up going around it by posting my photo on Photobucket and then using the embedding cut-and-paste feature from that site on this one. Hope that helps!
