skiffytown League of Heroes

Startled to wake, from the noise of someone or something was going threw his things, Levian reached for his gun and quickly cocked and pointed in the direction of the noise “ hold it “.
A rough voice answered “don’t shoot, don’t shoot, I mean you no harm.” “what do you thing you are doing ?”Levian asked…
“I was about to make us coffee, yes, for you and I hmm, yes?”
Levian uncocked his gun, and lowered it back to his side.
“fine, if that is all you were doing sure I could go for some coffee.”
A short, frail little old man began to fix the coffee “sorry I am interrupted your sleep I did…your dreams, yes”
“my dreams, funny you should mention that… I have dreamed the same thing for months.” “oh, tell me you can, what of your dreams.”
“umm all right then …About this time last year I began to dream I was a superhero called Captain Halo and I was in a city of other superheroes called Skiffytown.
“ yes, go on”
“we would sit in a dinner and chat or go on adventures that are out of this world, I have friends in the dreams and belong to hero groups with others of like mind and faith. Rescued friends from other worlds. I crossed over to a parallel universe and stopped my doppelganger then made him into a robot as my brother. “
“ So, then you’re a superhero of faith, yes.”
“I go to Skiffytown every night, I felt lost, drained at work and sense I had time I took a long vacation I needed to find Skiffytown.

"Ah, yes my name you want to know ,hmm yes, I tell you then , Jesse is my name ,yes, jesse it is"

"alright then Mr. Jesse, what do you think ?, does Skiffytown really exist ? or is is in my head ?"

dawn broke as the sun began to rise percing though to trees and early morning fog rolled in, more coffee was made .
Jesse fixed backon and eggs and toast on the grill ... "I'm the camp host actualy and I need to check the other campers I would like to talk more about Skiffytown and your dreams... walk with me you will, then hmm?"

Levian gathered up what he thought he would then they set out for there walk through the camp after Jesse check the few campers then they followed a trail for a while . the old man was lively and quick and able to keep a good pace till they came to a table top rock formation there were carved benches to sit on and the old man sat down .

" this is as far as I go, fallow the trail you will through that stone arch you must go stay to the north do not stray off the path or lost you will be , find you not I will , find what you seek ,yes, Skiffytown excist it does few from here find their way, forever lost they have become, again I say if you seek it, it will find you real it is in your mind it is ..."

after this Jesse gives him a shoulder bag turned and began to return down the path , Levian heard a noise from be hind him he turned to look but, saw nothing then turned around to see Jesse and ask him a question but, didn't see him any were around it was as if he vanished.

Levian stood at the archway looking at the path leading down into a Valley from here most of the Path was clear; the path led down and through the valley and then back up the other side the air shimmered like the heat rising from a fire, only it seemed cool standing in this spot.

All journeys begin with a single step, he thought to himself when he started to step through the archway, he began to sweat his pulse quickened, and he felt a little nauseated all the way down the steps he felt dizzy sick to the stomach when he reached to the bottom the symptoms went away he dropped to his knees in began to pray: " sorry Lord I should have pray before I started I pray now that you show me the right way to give me the strength and a wisdom to do the task at hand thank you Heavenly Father, for now I know the journey ahead I cannot do without you with me, amen."

Levian noticed a plaque on a post next to him caution, it read although this staircase looks as if they were carved by hand they were actually formed here naturally this unusual rock formations has been nicknamed Jacobs stairway to heaven.


Levian stood to his feet the nausea and dizziness were gone and he felt refreshed and ready. The path ahead lead into a narrow canyon in some places Levine remembered these type of canyons are called the Devils icebox he stepped down a few feet the walls on both sides were rather smooth. Above his head and just out of reach Levian notice the sun glittering off of something that he could not quite see, and suddenly as if he was hearing Mr.Jesse's voice in his head, he remembered something he heard Mr. Jesse say "once you're following the path, stay on it no matter what you see or hear vear off and you'll be lost. "

Levian kept on going thinking that if this was real gold up on the self just over head someone would have taken it by now.
Looking back at the trail he see's a stone stooping down he picks up the stone then " I may not leave the trail maybe I can bring the treasure to me" with that he throws the stone at the gold what looked like a pile of gold coins.

The stone ricochets around, the pile doesn't move as he thought it's just a rock formation but, what he didn't expect was what then crawled out from behind the rock structure, snakes ! they slither down the canyon walls Levian backs away as quickly and as carefully as possible. Then it came to him the bible verse out of Luke 10:19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.

As he stepped around snake after snake in his sandaled feet he began to repeat the verse over and over till he reached stairs leading out of the canyon the snakes seem to retreat, he emerged from the canyon feeling more confident in God to keep him safe.

There as before was a plaque on a post, it read telling of the gold looking formations that fool many, and of the dangers of climbing the canyon walls also warned of the nest of snakes that live in behind the formations. Levian thanked God for His protection and then moved on .

the path came to the largest tree he had ever seen and another plaque , normally the plaques have been on the other side of a feature, but this one was before , why he wondered . the plaque read telling that when the trail was being made the lead engineer had the idea to go under this giant tree rather than around it , the trees roots were spread apart enough to tunnel under with out harming the tree.

Levian approached the steps leading down and under the giant tree in the wood block used as a back to keep the step in place was carved "abandon all hope ye who enter here" was this a sick joke? levian said out loud .

A thick curtain of spider webs cover the entrance. "man, ware's the eerie music to tell you your about to run into a bad guy...Ok LORD. here we go". splitting the webs he moved in smaller roots dangle over head critters scurry about, Levian makes his way threw the roots and out the other side only to emerge under the canopy of the giant tree a thick woods !

Levian made his way out from under the tree brushing off spiders and webs. As he looked up he noticed the darkness of the canopy over head the giant trees branches seemingly all stretched in one direction and with a thick wooded area though this part of the valley the trail has become dark for a long stretch. Levian rummaged threw the bag for a light. He found a old fashion lantern a small bullseye lantern, he then finds a book of matches and light the lantern. On the top of the lantern was scribed : Psalms 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. as Levian read this the lantern glowed Brighter, and Brighter.
The shadows looked as if moving away from the light As Levian made his way still fallowing the path he couldn't help but to notice the trees were twisted and appeared to have faces from not-holes and peeled bark , plus the branches seem to look like hands holding the faces in anguish and horror .A creaking noise echoed all a round as a shadow like a large bird flying to and though.

[font=Comic Sans MS]As Levian looked for the bird he kept thinking he saw at least out of to corner of his eye, but, as he would shine his little light and see nothing there. Then an idea came to him he lowered the light and sat down closed his eye's and listened fore a while as the sounds got closer he opened his eyes letting them adjust to the low light.

Glancing around now things looked clear a silhouette stood just off the path "well now what have we here" levian said as he arose to his feet. The silhouette seem to have glowing red eyes, wings and horns on its head. A whispering voice spoke
"yes, you see me, I know you I have known you for a long year I was there at your birth oh so long year ago..."

"So, you know me then I should know you ..who are you?"

"You do not remember me, I am in your darkest nightmare..."
"Heh...wait...I remember you now from when I was 9 , I think."

"yes, a long year ago "

"You're the KRAMPUS! "

flashback :

when i was 9 I lived with my grandma in a small cottage the memories of this have been suppressed, though I don't know why or even how.

The old demonic, KRAMPUS, who had scared children to death with his evil looks and Rute switch,
was blended with Saint Nicholas...

However, in turn-of-the-century Europe, if you were bad you got a visit from KRAMPUS!
It was Krampus who gave coal and rocks to the naughty children. Sometimes, Krampus would beat
the bad with switches, and if a child was especially naughty, he would shackle them in
chains, stuff them in a bucket and throw them into the fiery pits of Hades !

My best friend they said was taken one December by the Krampus, all that was found was coal in his shoes . That night I made a plan the next time of the Krampus I would be ready . the fallowing year I kept my prayers to God focused of the krampus I wanted to destroy them , but I wanted God on my side . I learned that not all the Krampus were devils some of the older boys would go out dressed in costumes as Krampus to scare us younger boys. I wanted to be sure so I ask God to grant me a way to see the real ones from the fake, so, I didn't get the wrong one.

...My memory of that time was blocked til now with the return of this devil the Krampus. When I was 9 years old my best friend was taken by the Krampus and all that was left was coal left in his shoes.

First I tried to write Saint Nicholas and ask why but, I got no response, so I prayed to God for help.
I prayed every day just before bed, I wanted to know why and fight the krampus fore their mistake.
On my 10th birthday I was woke up in the middle of the night a light shined in my window a bright star lit up the sky a voice no one else could hear spoke to me asked me if I was sure this was what I wanted to take on the krampus to see the evil and know them even if they hide and be able to fight them. I said yes I do, I want to right the wrong done to my friend AND ALL THOSE wronged by these devils . the voice then said "So Be It" and the star dimmed . Two months later the time of the Krampus came, I could hear the rattle of the doors the taunts my grandma pleaded with me not to go out but, to go to bed and pray to the krampus not to take me, I told her not to worry God had given me what I need she just said I didn't know what I was saying . They were coming I stepped out side looked down the street the true Krampus seem to glow while those of the older boys who dress up as krampus seem dim the boys saw me first they came after me trying to scare me. I didn't want to hurt them. One grabbed me tried to get me back in my house I pulled on his arm and he went flying into the others , then the krampus noticed what was going on fire shot from the eyes of one...

I Couldn't believe it the boys who were dressed up to look like the Krampus were gone turned to lumps of coal! A rage came over me as I looked at all 8 Krampus they surrounded me , I felt the Spirit of the Almighty poor over me His power surged threw my body, the fight was on they came at me at once one by one they fell: Now Dasher! Now Dancer! Now, Prancer and Vixen! On, Comet! On, Cupid! On, Donder and Blitzen! I knew their names as I smacked, jabbed, punched and kicked beating them their claws could not harm me then it was finished. the ground was soaked in a black vile ooze.

I looked up and I saw a figure approach I could see it was dressed in red and white in his hand was a staff with a small lantern hanging from the crook at the top.
It was Saint Nicholas his red hood draped his face in shadow but, his beard hung out. I could see his eyes aglow a fiery orange like a hot coal. Anger was in his voice as he spoke "what have you done!"

St. Nick: "what have you done, BOY!!"
"I destroyed the Krampus, the evil that has plagued our village for hundreds of years and wrongfully killed my friend"
"So, Boy, you think you can take law in your own hands..."
" the law of retribution !" "Retribution ?my dear boy what do you know of retribution, I know ...I can feel your hate ..yes...you want to strike me down as well...I was the one who controlled the Krampus so, go ahead strike me down...give in to your desire boy..." "the Almighty is on my side I don't need to give in to my desires or your taunts..." " the Almighty...I once served HIM til it became the time of my passing I asked HIM for a longer time to do my good works and so I could spread HIS Word further but, HE would not then the Devils Krampus came to me offered me an earthly immortality as long as I let them feed on the children and I said to them as long as I can do my good works and they would only feed on the bad children..."

St. Nick walks over to the lumps of coal left after the krampus put fire out of their eyes and turned the older boys into coal, he picks up one of the larger pieces breaks it open in side is a crystal that is glowing in the glow is what appears to be a face, the face of the boy who was killed by the krampus.

Captain Halo sat in the diner looking at his hand he could see through it glancing around he noticed his reflection looked as a hologram this isn't the the first time he noticed this. Several time this has happened as to why he can only guess. He felt that he needed to be some were else just not know where.
"I have an uneasy feeling about this..."

Levian:"Now I do remember who you are Čert Nickel the devil Nicholas...that night when I destroyed the Krampus you approached and picked up one of the lumps of coal left after the Krampus fried the older boys, you broke it open revealing the soul of the boy had been trapped inside then you drained the crystal of the boys soul feeding on it "
Nickel:"ah, yes I see at that time I felt no choice but to send you away, I needed to feed and with you, dear boy, killing my krampus hunters of souls I had to get rid of you,so, I opened a portal in time that sucked you and your grandmother into the far future where My evil would be stronger."

the forest around levian became alive shadows moving as red eyes appeared all around.

Nickel:"Now, boy, witness my greatest achievement the new Krampus shadow demons...

Captain Halo still siting in the diner while others come and go some pay no attention they've seen him as an image before however at this time he was flickering in and out disappearing a little at a time.
then it came to him as if hearing a voice cry out.

Halo:"oh, my God! I've got to do some thing, this Levian needs my help!"

He then jumped up and raced out, while other heroes fallowed after Cap. Halo.
Halo wasn't sure how or were he needed to go, there was a 'sense' to guide him.
He headed to H.Q. barreling pass guards and rushing down the hall, the other heroes stopped the ease the guards then continued after Halo. Halo headed up a stairway in leaps and strides till he reached the midway landing between the third and forth floors.
some new that Halo had not been there before of at least only a few times in the H.Q.
Halo pounds on the wall when suddenly it slides open revealing a door that read LAB 3.1.5.
The flickering Halo stepped back and ran at the door passing through it.
Once he was in he looked around it was a large room, the floors walls and ceiling covered in a shining silver metal in the center of the room was a stone archway,and in one corner was a control both of some kind.
Standing in the room also were three science researchers , one looked up and stated "what are you doing here and how did you get in here..."
Halo:"sorry to barge in but I need to help a Levian I feel him calling for help and it's coming from this arch witch is a gate way to his world , please is there a way to open it?"

Lab tech :"er yes there is I can see you're in a spot fazing the way you are ...I can tell by the urgency in your voice that you must be sincere we can help you"
Halo:"please there's not much time!"

the lab tech quickly moves to a panel in the both behind halo the door finally opens and the other heroes who had been fallowing Halo here rush in.
Halo:"there's not much time, this is the only way for me to get to Levian to help him!"
Captain Halo began to flickering more fading out and in. at longer periods of time .
The power being feed into the stone arch shimmered and looked as heat rising, as soon as Halo saw this he ran toward the archway,as he moved he drew his Holy chakram, those standing by seem to be hopeful for Halo to make it to help the Levian but, before he reached the Arch he disappeared ,
one of the heroes asked did he go threw ? The tech replied the gate will shut down as soon as its entered.

Then out of no ware the Holy chakram flies heads into the gate, then it shuts down.
Every one in the room seemed heavy of heart they saw no trace of Captain Halo.

the Krampus were taunting him clawing him now at leisure then they would back off and Nickel hit him with a arc of lightning bolts .
Nickel:"feel the power of my evil, boy, where is your god now, boy."
His voice in a whisper; Levian: "your evil will not prevail..."
A Krampus strikes him in the face he felt the sting it felt like his eye was wrenched out the socket.
then suddenly a whirl sound fills the air, a familiar sound to Levian from his dreams , hearing this gave a strength to Levian had not been able to find in this fight and despite his wounds that had crippled him brought him to the ground he stood up with the last bit of strength he then raised his arm into the air .
The whirling gained intensity threw the thick canopy broke the Holy chakram of Captain Halo, Levian catches it a glow of holy light streams down from the halo healing his wounds , a smile crosses his face.
Threw out the Vally the screams of Levian had been heard but, now the table are turned the air became filled now with the howls of the Krampus in pain .

Levians dreams end part 2.

Crossfire stood in the middle lab 3.1.5 his eyes fixed on the monolithic archway , who was, a lab technician had been going on and on about how they found this in a national park and How it gave off and energy signature from what they could find in their study of the archway was that it is a portal gateway to an alternate reality.

D.C. Guardian was going through surveillance videotape obtained from the lab where Capt. Halo disappeared he still hadn't done over the shock that a secret lab was in his building and apparently had been there since the H. Q. was built. D.C. had a computer do is spectral analysis of the videotape checking all possibilities of just where Capt. Halo disappeared to, however, all the evidence seemed to point to Capt. Halo disappearing into thin air as if he ceased to exist.

Crossfire decided to check with the holy fire for answers to the disappearance of his friend Capt. halo, then suddenly archway powered itself up and a vision appeared to crossfire in the archway there he saw a man who looked a lot like his friend Capt. halo whom he also knew as Levian. he saw Levian fighting for his life against shadow like demons, he watched as they clawed and tore at his flesh they taunted him and with a blow to the back of his legs they brought him to his knees he was beaten his bones broken, Levian fell to his knees blood dripped down his face he was bleeding from his eyes and ears . and then a hooded figure approached, crossfire could see the figure had a familiar look like an evil Santa Claus only he was tall and skinny dressed in a hooded cloak blood red trimmed in a black furr even though his face was vailed in darkness by the hood a long beard could be seen hanging out, but, the beard was gray and wire like.
Crossfire not only could see the vision he could hear as well. he heard in this sinister St. Nick speak "from now boy you will know the power of my true evil" having said this an arc of electricity flew from his fingertips striking Levian causing agonizing pain, a black smoke like mist shrouded the arc's ."where is your god now, boy". "Nickel" His voice in a whisper; Levian: "your evil will not prevail..."
then suddenly a whirl sound fills the air, a familiar sound to Levian from his dreams , hearing this gave a strength to Levian had not been able to find in this fight and despite his wounds that had crippled him brought him to the ground he stood up with the last bit of strength he then raised his arm into the air .

Halo's last act was indeed to save this Levians lifeDC Guardian made his way down to lab 3.1.5. the secret lab has been right there under his nose the whole time he had been here. the door to the lab slides open he sees his friend Cross Fire standing in front of the stone archway.

DC- I thing I need to get the computer re-calibrated

CF- oh, why is that?

DC- I ran everything on surveillance of our friend Captain Halo and his disappearance

CF- So, what did you find out?

DC- The computer claims he never existed

CF- Could the glitch have attacked the computer?

DC- that's why I've got diagnostics going over it right now

CF- Capt. Halo been on missions with me and others so, how could he not exist ?

DC- I know however the bio-scan shows no life force, no energy fields ...as if we all were made to think he was here ...

CF- I wonder...perhaps ...well this just accrued to me could he have been a spirit or
astro-projection maybe ?

DC- perhaps but, all I know is he's gone now

CF- I've had a vision just before you got here, Captain Halo was trying to save someone he called Levian...

DC- wasn't that his alias?

CF- yes, he called himself by that name once... now the person I saw in the vision looked just like him , and I think he is still in need of our help, but, I won't ask you to come with me

DC- I know he was a member of your team so, I'm coming with you.

Cross Fire summoned the holy fire once again and the gateway opened the two of them dashed though...(TBC)
Once on the other side they come out to a dry land the sun blazed in the cloudless sky.
In front of them was a tall thin older man with a long beard wearing a green park ranger uniform and a straw sun hat, and a name tag reads Jesse.

Jesse: help you I can, hmm, yes ?

DC: what?

CF: why are you talking like that (to DC:" he sounds like that Muppet in that space movie")

Jesse:lie to you I will not, sound strange do I, speak another language I am, translation you hear, in your head.

CF: so, who are you really then?

Jesse: a Messenger of God I am, here to prepare Levian for your world I am, yes.

CF: but, he is in trouble and needs our help!

Jesse:help him you will send for you I did, strayed from his path he did, get him back you need , fight his battles do not, coach him you can, from the darkness he must come out, armor of light he needs.DC and Cross Fire looked out over the valley from here they could see the entire trail.

Jesse points to the wooded area with the giant tree:" there is were the path he is, fell to he did , follow it he will to his death it will lead."

the path threw the woods ends at a cliff to a creator pit. the right path lead out from the giant tree and around the pit then ends at the base of the hill where they stood.

Jesse: wait here I will, have a favor of you I ask after helping Levian you do, latter ask I will.

DC: sure shouldn't be a problemDC and CF made their way down the slope taking the trail around the pit as they came to the woods they could hear the fight going on inside .

DC: should we just cut threw the trees ?
CF: no! we're to keep to this path...
DC:..wait I thought I saw something move in there...CF why do the trees look like people?
CF: ...I see men as trees... I know whats this is those who have strayed from their path ended up as lost souls they are the trees so, don't go in there,but, I can shed some light on the subject.

Cross Fire held out his hand , the Holy fire sprang from it like a flare casting a brilliant light over all the woods the shadow Krampus screamed in agony and slithered into the dark, even Nickel let out a cry and disappeared into the shadows.

Levian looked around as if waking up from a nightmare :"where did that light come from?"

A disembodied voice spoke CF:"your on the wrong path ...You need to get back to the right path."
Levian realized he had heard the voice before in his dreams it's Cross Fire ! he thought then he looked back saw the lantern back over by the giant tree entrance, he then realized where and how he was side track and got off the right path . He dash to the lantern picked it up back under the giant tree , as he stepped back out on the other side there stood two figures he knew from his dreams DC Guardian and Cross Fire.

CF: are you alright ?
Levian: I think so ...so what are you doing here and how did you get ...
DC: there will be time for that we need to go, we can talk on the way...
CF:yes it's going to get dark and those things you were fighting will be able to attack .
Levian: all right , I'm glad you two came I was getting tired .

They made there way to the pit CF pointed to were the path Levian was on looked as if one would step out of the wood and right into the pit. at this point they found a new plaque .

The plaque read: here is a stone called the leap of faith it is said that "a step here in the right direction is like walking on air."

DC: so, what does it mean ...
CF: I'm not sure unless your to step off here Levian
Levian: how long do you think we got, how long to walk all the way around ?
CF: going around may take more time than the sun setting, so, what are you going to do?
Levian : just as the sign says take a leap of faith .

Levian stepped up on the stone then step out over the pit at first it appeared as if he was standing in the air .
Levian: it's a bridge made to look like it's the pit.
levian shined the lantern on the bridge and the whole thing showed up and now could be seen .
They all made their way across the bridge to the other side and up thew slope just as the sun dropped over the Horizon .
Jesse: well, you have done Levian, good friends you have in these two... Go, you must to the place you belong, yes

Levian:yes, I will, thank you Mr. Jesse .
Jesse: the halo you will not need , powers of a Saint you have, yes.
Levian: you know I feel you're right ...

Levian turns and gives the halo a hard throw, the halo lifts up disappears into the sky.
Jesse: now as fore the favor I said ask you two I would , destroy the gate once returned have you.

DC: we can do that no problem. come on lets go and after the gate is done then I'm going to need a complete report on this..
the gateway shimmered and DC went threw then CF fallowed after , CF: nice to meet you Mr. Jesse... so, Levian you coming?
Levian: yes, right behind you.
for the first time in a long time levian felt happy: thank you Mr. Jesse for showing me the way.
Levian walked up and crossed threw the gateway.

once on the other side DC cleared the room ordered everyone out the using his concussion blast and CF using holy fire , Levian for the first time said a small prayer and around him rose up a force field armor of God's holy light and with a thrust the three of them hit the stone arch turning it into a pile of dust.
